You can use Premiere 6.0 on both Mac?s and PC?s, so I don?t understand what Machead is talking about, I have a Mac and I use Premiere! You just need to ensure that you have at least a 300 MHZ processor and plenty of hard disk capacity. I can?t think of any functionality that FinalCutPro has that Premiere 6 doesn?t??..but would be interested to find out.
I would recommend looking at the Adobe website for the technical specification of exactly what Premiere can do: https://eurostore.adobe.com/cgi-bin/...xC&mv_arg=PREM

This age old arguement rears it's ugly head time and time again. The point of it is that both are just tools and the choice of one over the other is pure personal choice.

It has come about that the mac is usually the choice of the graphic/video proffessionals and i would indeed love to get one for the stability etc. Unfortunately i have invested too much in my PC to throw it away just to get a tool that will get the same end result. So i would choose whatever system you have now and spend as little money as possible.

My college has just got delivery of 10 Mac g4's running Final cut pro so hopefully i will be more in a better position to comment in a few months time.

Read what I said (FCP is short for Final Cut Pro)FCP is Apple software so you can't get it on other platforms.
Read what Barnstormed said on the previous quote above mine .

I might add that my only other editng experience is on AVID (&iMovie),so I can't comment on Premiere6.
Oh FCP now supports real-time editing without the nead for rendering.

    Hi Hannahgaze,

The reason Machead quotes 'FCP because I have a Mac' is because, if given the choice between FCP and Premiere there is only one choice, well thats my opinion anyway.

Also, FCP is sort of like premiere and after effects bundled together.

Honestly though, trying not to get flamed here but FCP is a better product and from what I understand from some of my contacts is that it is replacing Avids in some areas especially with it's real time and EDL facilities, which are obviously purchased separately. Having said that, premiere is also excellent. So to be quite frank, anyone choosing between the two is not going to make a bad decision.

    Regards

    Tim
